The furnace element in a high-temperature attachment to a Philips X-ray diffractometer has been re-designed to give higher specimen temperatures and longer furnace life. The assembly and replacement of the furnace element has also been greatly simplified. Aroing, which has proved higHL y destructive at times, has also been eliminated.
