摘要

A device which controls temperatures by varying the heat transfer across an annular space has been designed and tested. The central temperature of a nuclear fuel test specimen has been controlled at 1165 ± 10 °F by use of this device. This mechanism makes possible temperature control under conditions where the heat source, heat sink, or both vary between 50 and 150％ of the nomi¬nal value. Out-of-pile tests and three in-pile experiments have confirmed the usefulness of this heat transfer control device.
