摘要

The conditions governing the transfer of hydrogen from the atmosphere of the arc are described. The amount of diffusible hydrogen taken up and given off by a specially prepared weld metal was determined. This material was prepared using both basic calciferous electrodes and cellulose electrodes containing different amounts of silicon. The variation in the uptake and loss of diffusible hydrogen with respect to the difference in the method of manufacture of the samples was determined. Silicon raises the uptake and hinders the loss of hydrogen in a-iron at room temperature.
