摘要

Concentrations of secondary uranium minerals, some of which are com-mercially significant, have been found in three formations of Tertiary age in the Gulf Coastal Plain area of southern Texas:the Fayette sandstone of the Jackson formation, the Catahoula tuff, and the Oakville sandstone. The uranium minerals occur in tuffacous sandstones and sandy shales of continental origin, outcropping in a narrow belt paralleling the Gulf Coast and extending from Gonzales County on the northeast to Duval County on the southwest—a strike length of approximately 150 miles.nUranium minerals that have been identified include autunite, meta-autunite, carnotite, uranophane, schoepite, and a uraniferous opaline material. The mineral assemblage varies considerably among different deposits and may include, locally, molybdenum, minerals and an unidentified arsenic mineral.
