The primary goal of the 1997 Joint National Conference was to unite NAMEPA and211u001eWEPAN in a unique collaborative effort to further the cause of increasing the 211u001eparticipation of women and minorities in science and engineering. The specific 211u001eobjectives were to: (1) conduct technical and programmatic seminars for 211u001einstitutions desiring to initiate, replicate, or expand women and minorities in 211u001eengineering program; (2) provide assistance in fundraising and grant writing; (3) 211u001eprofile women in engineering programs of excellence; (4) sponsor inspiring 211u001eknowledgeable and motivational keynote speakers; and (5) offer a series of 211u001eworkshops focused on a multitude of topics.
