摘要

A Michelson interferometer is proposed for the 1992 Mars orbiter mission. The experiment intends to cover the planet Mars with high resolution spectrometry covering the spectral range 1 to 50 micrometers. The general characteristics of the interferometer, the scientific goals, and the approach to implement the required instrumentation are discussed. The choice is a two channel interferometer with refrigeration limited to passive cooling. Fourier spectrometry allows simultaneous measurements of all resolved intervals and high luminosity.
