摘要

Thin plate fatigue is studied considering the joint effects of load spectra and ellipsoidal crack fronts. The fatigue study is carried out using the 2124 T 351 and the 7475 T 7351 aluminum alloys. The results show a short crack effect on the 7475 under constant amplitude loading and on the 2124 for the case of overloading. The mechanisms are discussed, suggesting that the differences are explained by different closing mechanisms, plasticity in one case and microstructure in the other.
