摘要

Flight simulation tests were performed on 2024-T3 and 7075-T6 lug specimens. Geometrical distortions induced by the expansion were measured. The significance of residual stresses was analysed with reference to depth of penetration of cold work, the relaxation of residual stress by cyclic loads, and other practical aspects. The results indicated that significant fatigue life improvements were obtained with the split-sleeve method.
