摘要

The interaction between anchora and sand was observed directly in a plane strain model system, and the shear failure of the sand studied. A continuous record of the interaction between the sand and the model anchors was made using a stereo photogrammetric technique. The model anchors represented a plate anchor and an anchor with a rigid, short, cylindrical body with either a smooth or a rough surface. The effect of a smooth shaft surrounding the tendons of the anchors with the rough, cylindrical bodies were investigated. The results of the model tests are assessed in relation to the performance of full scale anchors.
