With the recent speeding up of internal combustion engines, the problem of the amount of lubrication oil consumed has become a subject for discussion. Many types of rings, pistons and oils have made their appearance to serve as countermeasures, but from the very beginning the basic mechanism of the oil supply and the scraping action of the oil against the piston ring part has been one of the least understood things.
