Measurements were made of the output power, gas charge composition and electrical discharge properties during typical runs of the Intermediate High Repetition Rate Laser (Intermediate HRRL). Factors, other than the normal progressive loss of CO2 due to electrical discharge, controlling the output power were sought, but none was found. In the present configuration of the laser, the conversion of CO2 into CO and O2 appears to be the only important effect leading to power loss in the HRRL unless there are bright arcs present in the electrode assembly.
