Manually calculated values of adiabatic combustion temperature arenpresented, using a slightly modified version of Penner's method, for the simple cases of non-dissociation, and of dissociation to CO, H2 and O2 only, for a wide range of gasseous-phase hydrocarbon compounds in stoichiometric admixture with air. The variations in combustion temperature with carbon number are found to match most closely those of the reaction enthalpy plotted on a basis of unit mass of stoichiametric mixture. Non-dissociated and dissociated stoichiometric temperatures are found to average out approximately to 2460 K and 2340 K respectively.
