摘要

The photoionization cross section of barium was determined in the spectral range from 2400 to 2100 A from absolute measurement of the neutral particle density, the UV radiation intensity, and the ionization rate, of an optically thin barium atomic beam. A crossed beam method is used in which a Ba atomic beam is crossed by a UV light beam. The Ba-ions and electrons produced in the intersection are separated by an electric field and counted with multipliers. A rough mass analysis is reached by recording the delayed coincidences. Results of measurements are compared with existing data and are found to be consistent.
