Similar to other natural farming systems that focus on soil quality, Kyuseinature farming has an added dimension in that it often uses beneficial microorganisms as inoculants to increase the soil's microbial diversity, which in turn can enhance the growth, health, and yield of crops. The report presents the proceedings of the first international conference on Kyusei nature farming. Case studies are provided of nature farming in Japan, Indonesia, Myanmar, India, Thailand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Korea, and the United States. Six papers are also presented which concern experiments on effective soil microorganisms. Final sections assess the state-of-the-art in Kyusei nature farming, identify research needs and priorities, and describe networks and linkages.
