Under HUD Contract HC 14362, Task Order Nos. 8 and 11, the NAHB National Research Center has completed a pilot series of tests of the withdrawal resistance of two variations of two lag screw sizes typically used in the connection of the wood floor frame structure to the steel chassis I-beams in the manufactured home industry. In addition, the variables of rate of withdrawal and angle of penetration of lag screws were introduced with two loading rates used in the testing program. Load versus joint deformation (slip) and ultimate load carrying capacities were determined on a total of 48 joints (2 lag screws per joint) which represents 3 test specimens for each test variable involved. (Two lag screw sizes, two thread types, two rates of withdrawal and two lag screw penetration angles.)
