Commercial fishing is the most dangerous occupation in the nation. The U.S. Congress passed the Commercial Fishing Industry Vessel Safety Act of 1988, which requires emergency equipment, and establishes other conditions for the operation of commercial fishing vessels. Life rafts, EPIRBs, exposure suits, and fire extinguishers will be required on almost all commercial fishing vessels that venture into salt water. The purpose of the workbook is to help commercial fishermen with the process of selecting, installing, using, nad maintaining the emergency equipment for a commercial fishing vessel.
