摘要

In recent years there is a growing interest in reducing the quantity of plastics in the waste streams to be treated. Particularly on account of the great diversity the recycling of plastics is not a simple matter. The document will elaborate on these and other subjects. Chapter 2 of the document deals briefly with the subject of plastic materials and chapter 3 concentrates on plastic waste material. The quantity and the composition of the plastic waste, the method of disposal and the concurrent environmental pollution (where known) will be discussed. Chapter 4 gives prognoses of the quantity of waste plastic in the case of 'unchanged policy'. Finally, in chapter 5 attention will be paid to the task definition of the prevention memorandum, the recycling of waste materials and the possibilities to realize this.
