摘要

The sixteen possible logic functions of two binary variables were realized experimentally, using the lensless shadow-casting technique of optically implementing binary logic. This system which can implement any combinational logic operations for two binary objects in parallel, using an image coding technique and a simple incoherent optical correlation technique, is called OLAP (optical logic array processor). Extending this work to a polarization encoded optical shadow-casting scheme, the author has come up with a design algorithm which is capable of generating multioutputs in such a way that they can be decoded at different micropixels at the decoding mask to satisfy the combinational logic output with a fixed source plane. The algorithm is used to design binary half-adder and subtracter and full-adder and subtracter to carry out all operations with a fixed source plane and a fixed decoding mask.
