摘要

The volume describes the rock art of both the prehistoric and historic periods found on public lands in Western Colorado. One of the major problems with studying rock art is that it is hard to reach in many cases, and most of the artwork has been vandalized, making interpretation hard. In the study, some 121 prehistoric and historic sites were studied by an archaeologist, with an archaeological point of view, who has recorded many of these sites and provides interpretation as to their scientific importance. The volume also is a compendium of sites in western Colorado and serves as an important inventory tool.
