摘要

The report presents the results of a multi-component study, the goal of which was to develop recommendations to improve strategies to prevent youth drinking and driving and riding with impaired drivers. The project was conducted in two phases. The goal of Phase One was to explore the underlying assumptions, premises, objectives, activities and outcomes of existing prevention programs nationwide. The goal of Phase Two was to gather additional data based on the findings of Phase One that would: (1) Determine the validity of program assumptions and premises identified in Phase One; and (2) Identify additional attitudes and skills necessary for the development of DWI avoidance behaviors in youth. The methods and results of Phase One are discussed in two previous Department of Transportation Publications (Report Numbers DOT HS 806 903 and DOT HS 806 904). The report focuses on the methods and results of Phase Two.
