Air and canopy temperatures in subalpine watersheds were similar to air temperature measured at a centrally located valley weather station after adjusting for adiabatic effects. Nocturnal cold air drainage and midafternoon thunderstorms influenced predicted canopy temperatures, but differences in direct beam irradiance had very little effect on canopy temperatures.
