摘要

This study tests the hypothesis that feelings of control and efficacy, in general and in interpersonal relationships, are important determinants of whether social relationships are supportive and thus lead to positive outcomes. Subjects were 158 people, 62 years of age and older, who were once married but were living alone in age-segregated and age-integrated community settings. Data were collected via a structured interview, responses to a videotaped program, and social contact and health records.
