摘要

This report summarizes the results of a fishery development project designed to examine the production capabilities and financial feasibility of a combination king crab/longline vessel. The project was the first of its kind in Alaska, in several ways. It employed technology that was new to U.S. fishermen, to target on a resource that was unfamiliar to them. The report documents the results of 150 fishing days, mostly in the Bering Sea targeting Pacific cod, but also including 26 days in southeast Alaska longlining sablefish. Detailed in appendices are the set locations, catch composition, finished product yields, parasite incidence, labor inputs for fishing and processing tasks, technical problems encountered, and other data.
