摘要

This case study analyzes how metric enters into the international trade in the construction and engineering services industry. The report is based on information from the American National Metric Council, interviews with trade associations and firms within the industry, government agencies dealing with the industry's international trade, and review of literature on the industry. One of the findings is that U. S. construction and engineering services firms operating abroad use hard-metric measurement in their work. The quickening pace of international competition in this business overseas is a primary force driving conversion of U. S. firms in this area to metric measurement.
