摘要

When the load eccentricity in uniaxial compressive strength tests is deliberately increased, the apparent strength decreases. The rate of decrease is however smaller than one would expect from an elementary stress analysis. Accordingly previous experimental results showing that the strength was independent of load eccentricity for the small but unavoidable eccentricities in normal 'non-eccentric' tests have been confirmed.
