摘要

The report is an abbreviated summary of the major findings from a study of financing at the leading 100 research universities in the U.S. between 1975 and 1979. This 18-month study, conducted by NCHEMS with funding from the National Science Foundation, was based on the parallel use of data from two sources: data collected by the National Science Foundation in its Universities and Nonprofit Institutions Studies Group in the division of Science Resources Studies and data collected by the National Center for Education Statistics in its Higher Education General Information Surveys (HEGIS) program.
