摘要

Important economic, political, and social issues are involved in merger activity. The present study seeks to summarize the large body of literature on mergers by organizing the material around the major policy issues involved. In addition, emphasis is placed on empirical studies which provide factual evidence on the issues. To round out the analysis, some personal interpretations and evaluations are made by the author.
