Long-term objectives of the adjustment strategy are to develop new economic employment opportunities through the development of new light industry and the potential development of recreational and tourism facilities. As a result of the in-depth study of the area, a comprehensive adjustment strategy has been developed which provides for both the short term and the long term economic development of the District. The strategy will provide the needed financial assistance to mitigate the impact of the greatly increased wastewater discharges, thereby saving some 1800 direct employment opportunities.
