Congress created the Commission on Federal Paperwork to study the Federal Government's burgeoning information gathering activities and to recommend changes in the Government policies and practices that impact on the paperwork burden. The legislation that established the Commission also required OMB to monitor and report on executive branch agency responses to the Commission's recommendations. This publication and others that will follow in this series are in response to that requirement.
