摘要

The study investigates the possibility of improving the clinical significance of the EEG by signal analysis and quantification. A selected group of patients with acute unilateral cerebral ischemia was chosen for this study. These patients can be regarded as more or less representative of the much larger category of patients with functional disorders caused by inadequate cerebral blood flow. Functional disorders in such cases are chiefly expressed in the EEG by the occurrence of less fast and more slow activity. By restricting the investigation to a small selected homogeneous group of patients it was expected that conclusions pertinent to such a group could be reached more easily. A disadvantage is that the question remains unanswered whether the conclusions drawn are valid for other groups of patients. Patients with acute unilateral ischemia were selected, because this condition is important for both clinical and electroencephalographic reasons.
