The study's purpose was to determine the economic feasibility and consider the environmental consequences of prototype mining of construction aggregates in an area known as the New York Bight which is part of the New York OCS. The study area appears to have significant deposits of commercial grade aggregate, but additional exploration is needed. The study examined characteristics of the mining area, environmental considerations, offshore technology and conducted a market analysis.
