摘要

Various physical and chemical property tests were conducted on approximately 20year-old retorted oil shale from the old U.S.B.M. retorted shale pile (a byproduct of the Paraho process). The material was difficult to handle and test in the laboratory and,in most cases,did not react as a normal soil during testing. Peculiarities and problems of working with this material are discussed. Test procedures,acquired data,and generated physical properties are included in the report.
