摘要

The modified Ergun equation proposed previously by the authors for calculating the pressure drops through beds of grains, was tested for corn and navy beans at different moisture contents containing varying amounts of fines. The kE value for corn was found to be 4.4, for navy beans 1.9;the effect of fines on the kE values was pronounced. The use of bulk densities instead of porosities and of a modified k£ value, kg are proposed in order to simplify the practical use of the obtained results.
