摘要

Three cotton fabrics were used in the study and differ from each other only in regard to the specific vat dyes required to achieve OD-7 and OG-107. One sample, referred to as Exp OG-107, was vat dyed to a visual shade matching OG-107 but having a reflectance at 1 micron satisfactory for good camouflage against active infrared detectors.nPart I describes preparation of samples, optical and thermal measurements. Thermal data were obtained with the Quartermaster carbon arc source and inanimate receivers.nPart II reviews available literature which used fabric systems similar to those of this study.nThe experimental potion describes a test in which pigs were protected during exposure to the carbon are source by each of the three fabrics. It was concluded that the fabric which possesses all the reflectance characteristics necessary for good camouflage affords at least as good protection as the present standard OG-107 and that the objectives of affording good camouflage do not run counter to the necessity for good thermal protection.
