The transmissions Consist of scheduled 24-hour weather map service with stop, start, and phasing signals between each map transmission. To effectively use the service, some automatic method of map selection is desirable. Generally this selection is accomplished by a simple 24-hour timer and circuitry to utilize the stop, start, and phasing signals. Most facsimile receiving equipment presently manufactured includes the necessary circuitry but some older equipment does not. This report describes an automatic start-stop-phase unit (figs. 1and 2) to perform these functions.
