摘要

1. Mice exposed to simulated altitude of 20,000 feet for a period of three weeks (altitude mice) are more susceptible to arsenite poisoning than normal control mice. When each group was given two injections of 0.125 mg of arsenite intraperitoneally the second, 1 hour after the first, and the animals were sacrificed 1 hour after the second injection so that the citric acid content of liver, spleen, kidney, i duodenum, heart, and blood could be deteriiiintil —there was an increase in citric acid contral of liver and spleen from both groups of animals while duodenum of control mice minutes while that of control mice was 110 alone increased. Following a single injection minutes, the latter significantly greater than of 0.5 mg. of arsenite and sacrifice of the the former (P < 0.01). animals 15 minutes later, kidney of control mice and liver of altitude micshowed sig-nnificant increases. In animals whose tissues were analyzed immediately after death from either a single injection of 0.5 mg. of arsenite or a second injection of the same quantity of poison for those animals surviving for 90 minutes, there were significant decreases in citric acid content of duodenum and spleep from both groups of animals. Citric acid increased in kidneys from both groups while it increased only in hearts of altitude mice and decreased only in livers of control mice.
