An analysis was made of hydraulic servo systems to deter¬mine a method of selecting transfer valves and power pistons that will give the optimum oil-pressure distribution within a servo. Two valve types were considered:n1. Those in which the oil flow is independent (pr nearly so) of the reaction (Bernoulli) forces within the valve, in this type the rate of oil flow is a function of the pressure across the valve.n2. Those in which the oil flow is not independent of the reaction forces. The valve may use these forces to effect compensation such that the oil flow rate is reasonably indepen¬dent of the pressure across the valve
