A battery-operated reader has been con¬structed for use with the radiophotoluminescent glass dosimeter. Although intended to cover the "casualty" range of 0-600 Roentgen dose, it is sufficiently sensitive to be used in the 0-200 Roentgen range. The performance of the instru¬ment compares favorably with line-operated readers now in use, and indicates the feasibility of engineering a portable battery-operated reader for use in the field.
