摘要

Under the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act (the Act), the Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee (TPSAC) must issue a report and recommendation to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on the issue of the impact of the use of menthol in cigarettes on the public health, including such use among children, African-Americans, Hispanics, and other racial and ethnic minorities (Act at 907(e)). The Industry Menthol Report is submitted to FDA, at its request, by the non-voting Industry Representatives on TPSAC and other tobacco industry stakeholders. Consistent with FDAs commitment to science-based regulatory decisions that rely on the best available data, the Industry Menthol Report provides FDA with a complete and thorough evaluation and assessment of the best available scientific data.
