摘要

The U.S. Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Audit Division, has completed an audit of an Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), grant, number 2005-JL-FX-0044, to the New York Agency for Community Affairs (NYACA). The total award amount of the grant was $138,130, and the grant funding was to be used to sustain the efforts of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) Youth Union in providing student leadership training and establishing a committee to recruit 200 student members and 16 core leaders. Additionally, the grant-funded program was to inform students about current issues and to teach them about government processes so that they could increase their knowledge and be better able to address the important issues that affect the quality of life in their communities. The objective of this audit was to determine whether reimbursements claimed for costs under the grant were allowable, supported, and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and the terms and conditions of the grant. We also assessed NYACAs program performance in meeting grant objectives and overall accomplishments.
