Men and women are not equal, and so their jobs, their working conditions and how they are treated by society. It is therefore important to recognize these differences and adopt a 'gender sensitive' approach to health and safety at work including scientific research institutes such as the Italian National Institute of Health. European Commission and international organizations intend to help users to adopt a gender-sensitive approach to identify and to prevent risks, contribute to the debate about how a gender sensitive approach can best be adopted and also contribute to the sharing of research information on gender and occupational safety.
