Two test fuels with ASTM D3241 Breakpoints between 245-260 degrees C were identified for evaluation for in a laboratory test rig with actual fuel nozzles. The project objective was to evaluate two essentially copper free fuels with marginal thermal stability and evaluate potential improvements of thermal stability upon addition of MDA. Improvements observed by ASTM D3241 would then be confirmed in a simulation test rig with two different OEM nozzles. One of the test fuels was treated with an organic containment to achieve a poor thermal stability starting point. Results showed that MDA has anti-fouling properties beyond its metal complexing ability.
