The purpose of the conference was to bring together health services researchers who have examined the increased utilization and costs association with exposure to abuse with teachers in health professions schools and practicing clinicians to enable them to better understand the need to include violence and abuse as important public health issues that should be included in coursework. The conference brought together AHRQ researchers studying utilization and cost with CDC funded researchers studying prevalence and economic utility of interventions.
