摘要

This systematic review to aid the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) in updating its 2002 recommendation on screening for child and adolescent depression among average-risk, primary care populations. This report summarizes the evidence for the benefits and harms of screening, the accuracy of primary care feasible screening tests, and the benefits and risks of treating depression using psychotherapy and/or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) among patients aged 7 to 18 years. We focus on Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and do not address screening or treatment for minor depression or dysthymia. This review summarizes the current state of the evidence relevant to primary care clinicians and identifies key gaps in this scientific literature.
