摘要

Past and continuing discharges of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) have contaminated the natural resources of the Hudson River. The Hudson River Natural Resource Trustees - New York State, the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the U.S. Department of the Interior - are conducting a natural resource damage assessment (NRDA) to assess and restore those natural resources injured by PCBs. As part of the Hudson River NRDA, the Trustees are conducting an avian egg injection study. As described in the Trustees' Avian Egg Injection Study Plan, one of the contaminants of concern being tested in the study is a PCB mixture. This report provides the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) report on the preparation of the PCB mixture used in the Trustees avian egg injection studies. The USGS report also describes the rationale for the selection of PCB congeners used in the mixture and the preparation of dosing solutions used in the avian egg injection studies.
