The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), is proposing to issue permits for release of a nonindigenous weevil, Rhinoncomimus latipes Korotyaev (Coleoptera: Curculionidae). The agent would be used for the biological control of mile-a-minute weed, Polygonum perfoliatum L. (Polygonaceae), in the continental United States. APHIS has prepared an environmental assessment (EA) that analyzes the potential environmental consequences of this action.
