摘要

Giant Canada geese are native to prairie portions of the upper mid-west and they were common in portions of Missouri during pre-settlement times. Giant Canada geese were thought to have become extinct by the late 1800s but have since been restored to most of the eastern U.S. The population status of giant Canada geese in Missouri has been assessed through information gained from banding, harvest surveys, and since 1993 from a statewide breeding population survey. Results indicate that the number of giant Canada geese in Missouri have increased in number to a peak in 2000 and have since stabilized.
