摘要

The first part of this note describes the STAR noise. This includes descriptions of the production of the noise and the long-term behavior of the noise. A justification for the use of day-to-day noise files is provided. The second part discusses the hit-finding efficiency, including a method for the maximization of the hit-finding efficiency by varying the cuts used in the hit-finding on a ladder-by-ladder basis. The reasons for the differences in efficiencies are also investigated.
