The purpose of this workshop is for participants to learn how evidence is used inthe coverage decision process and the development and implementation of disease management protocols. They will be able to discuss situations in which State officials must make coverage or benefit decisions, appropriate processes for making those decisions, and sources of readily available evidence to support the decision-making process. In particular, sessions will address defining medical necessity, the fundamentals of technology assessment, and public and private informational resources for policymakers.
