摘要

In this report three organizations have been studied with regard to their Y2K adaptation work. Two of the organizations belong to the power supply sector (the Swedish National Grid and Vattenfall) and the third to telecommunications (Telia). The description of their work is based on a series of interviews. The Risk Management work as well as the Crisis Management preparation for the turn of the millennium have been studied. It has been noted how the perceived threat changed character through these phases. The three organizations had different perspectives on the Y2K problem. The Swedish National Grid, the authority, focussed on the technical problem, Vattenfall used a support approach and Telia saw it as a business opportunity, i.e. as a strategic problem. All three organizations seem to have proceeded efficiently in their Risk Management work, inviting the reflection that efficient Risk Management solutions may vary with the size, business area and the market situation of the organization and its previous experiences at similar tasks.
